The late Mrs. Maude Parker Dennis, my music teacher, left a gift, in 2011, a piece of property and instructions for me to advance music education in Liberia.
The property is now in court for clearance and we must clear the rights to begin our work. But we will prevail.
Beginning with the Maude Parker Dennis School of Music, Mrs. Dennis opened, in 1978, The Maude Parker Dennis Institute of Music and Performing Arts in Liberia and served to provide music education so many Liberians.
Mrs. Dennis's wishes, now has become my desire, which is to memorilize her name while making music education available to all Liberians, especially those who cannot afford the lessons. My desire also includes to explore, develope and cultivate a Music College Degree Program at a reputable University in Liberia, with emphasis in Liberian Native and Cultural Music.
Our churches and schools are in desperate need of qualified musicians in Piano, Organ, Drums, Trumpet, other wind instruments and Voice. This focus on Music Education will help create jobs for the creative and talented Liberians, program workers and most of all raise the quality level of Liberian compositions to be on par with Africa and the world.
I will be working with the Board of Directors to make this a reality in my life time.
